Chained Voices is a photographic series exploring censorship, identity, and the struggle to speak against systematic oppression. Beginning on Nakba Day with the Palestinian key of return, the series moves through reflection, silencing, and resistance, tracing the ongoing struggle to preserve identity and make one’s voice heard. A mirror introduces the imposed gaze through which Palestinian identity is often represented and distorted, while tape covering the mouth symbolizes censorship and enforced silence. As the tape is removed, the body shifts from a site of restriction to one of agency and self representation. Through this progression, the artwork connects personal experience with the broader Palestinian struggle against erasure, asserting presence and voice in the face of narratives that seek to deny them.
