MY ARTISTIC PRACTICE
Through painting, installation, photography, and printmaking, my practice explores memory, identity, displacement, and cultural survival. Working with materials, symbols, and embodied processes, I examine how personal and collective histories are carried, fragmented, and reconstructed across generations. Stitching, layering, and archiving become acts of remembering, transforming traces of the past into living forms of presence and connection.
ABOUT ME
I’m Rena Khatib, a Palestinian artist based in South Korea. Art has always been a way for me to make sense of the world around me, to express what is difficult to put into words, and to hold onto the things that matter. It is also how I explore the stories, memories, and experiences that shape who we are.
Working across painting, installation, printmaking, photography, and mixed media, I approach each medium as a different way of thinking, feeling, and making. My work is rooted in a desire to stay connected to my identity, to people and places, and to the memories we carry with us.
Through my artistic practice, I explore the ways identity, memory, and belonging can be held onto in the face of erasure. Art becomes a way for me to preserve what is at risk of being forgotten, to remain connected to where I come from, and to give space to voices and experiences that are often silenced or pushed to the margins. I see each work as an opportunity to carry these stories forward, creating a space where they can be remembered, felt, and encountered by others.
