< Descendants of the Olive >

Descendants of Olive is an installation rooted in memories of the Palestinian olive harvest and the inherited responsibility of protecting the land and its trees. A hand stitched Tatreez pattern of olive branches forms the starting point of the work, from which red threads descend carrying real olive leaves collected from the trees surrounding my family home in Palestine. Flowers, and threads are embedded within resin cast hands at the base, transforming the hands into vessels of memory, care, and preservation. The vertical arrangement connects embroidery, land, history, and generations through a continuous flow of materials. Viewers were invited to take an olive leaf from the installation, allowing a fragment of the artwork and its memory to leave the exhibition space and continue its journey through other hands.
