Maps of Exile is a series of three paintings exploring displacement through movement, flow, and fragmentation rather than fixed geographical borders. Using Dutch pouring techniques, acrylic paint, silicone oil, heat, air, and breath, the works translate different experiences of exile into visual movements: outward dispersion in Diaspora, inward compression in Displacement, and continuous drifting across distance in Distance. Gold floral patterns inspired by Palestinian cultural motifs appear throughout the series as markers of identity and presence, remaining visible within the unstable movement of the paint. The contrast between unpredictable fluidity and repeated floral motifs reflects the tension between displacement and continuity, suggesting that even when people are scattered, confined, or separated from their homeland, cultural identity continues to travel with them.
